I'm wondering if I buy a new or used BH for my 4110, and since I know that my time is limited would there be a big loss when its time to sell it? I'm sure the tractor will maintain a certain value, but kinda wondered about the BackHoe. It will be a lot of fun and pleasure to use on cleanup ,and I'm sure I could get Someone to do it for a lot less money, but who knows what. It could be the best time of my Life.

jones, I would think that any new BH would lose it's value somewhat. If that's a big concern you would probably lose nothing if you could find a nice used one.

In terms of the bigger picture, sometimes in life we just need and deserve to reward ourselves.

I bought a used one, had it for 2 years and made money. It was an ARPS 80 with self contained hydr. I sold it in the local paper in 3 days for $3300. If you do plan to sell it later, the self contained option and 3 point hitch mount will make it attractive to more potential buyers. I have a suspicion you may like it so much, you decide not to sell it in case you may need it again sometime. I only sold mine to upgrade. ....

I agree with the above post...I have found that anytime I have bought something for short-term use, I end up thinking that it will be real handy in the future and then keeping it. I would suspect that that would happen with a BH as well...water lines, tiles, small tree stumps, gas lines, and the list goes on. I would buy a used one, use it for the project, and then probably keep it. That way, not as much invested on something you don't think you'll use alot...much easier to justify keeping it!!! ....
